The Concrete Network - Edgers

Edgers produce a radius along the slab edge which help the slab resist chipping and damage after the forms are removed. Perform edging after the bleedwater disappears from the concrete surface.

On most floors, edging will not be required, but on patios, curbs, sidewalks, and driveways, it produces a tighter, cleaner looking edge that is more resistant to chipping.

Hand edgers require kneeling next to the slab and performing the edging operation. A walking edger attaches to a handle and allows the finisher to walk alongside the slab to edge the concrete.

Different edgers produce different edge radiuses: 1/8" through 1" radius edgers are available. There are special edgers for steps and curb and gutter work.
